Veg Momos Recipe

 



Veg momos are a popular and healthy snack. These dumplings are filled with vegetables and steamed until they are cooked through and tender. They are usually served with a spicy dipping sauce and are perfect for any occasion. 

Here's how you can prepare veg momos at home:

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup water

1 cup finely chopped vegetables (cabbage, carrot, onion, bell pepper, etc.)

1 tbsp minced garlic

1 tbsp minced ginger

1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tbsp sesame oil

Salt and pepper

Instructions:

1. In a mixing bowl, add the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water and knead to form a smooth dough. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for at least 30 minutes.

2. In another bowl, mix together the finely chopped vegetables, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.

3. Roll out the dough into small circles, about 3 inches in diameter. Use a rolling pin to flatten each circle until it's thin and even.

4. Place a small spoonful of the filling mixture in the center of each circle. Bring the edges of the circle together to form a small pouch, and twist the top to seal it.

5. Place the momos in a steamer basket, leaving some space between each one. Steam for 8-10 minutes, until the dough is cooked and the filling is hot.

6. Serve hot with a spicy dipping sauce on the side.

Tips:

You can also add spices or herbs, such as cumin, coriander, or cilantro, to the filling mixture for extra flavor.

If you don't have a steamer basket, you can use a colander or a metal sieve lined with cheesecloth.

Be careful not to overfill the momos, or they may burst open during steaming.

You can freeze uncooked momos for later use. Just place them in a single layer on a baking sheet and freeze until solid, then transfer them to a freezer bag or container. To cook, steam them for an extra minute or two.
